Joulo is a Dutch ERE registration service provider that helps electric vehicle owners earn money from their home charger. By automatically registering home charging sessions, Joulo converts emission reductions into ERE credits and pays out the proceeds.

## Founders

Joulo was founded by Ruben Stolk and Johan Trip — two entrepreneurs, friends, and avid Tesla drivers from the Netherlands.

## How does it work?

1. **Connect your charger** — Link your MID-certified charger to Joulo (< 5 minutes).
2. **Automatic registration** — Joulo collects your charging data and registers the emission reduction with the NEa.
3. **Receive your payout** — We sell your ERE credits and pay you quarterly.

## Which chargers are compatible?

Joulo works with MID-certified chargers. Popular compatible brands: Tesla Wall Connector 3, Easee Charge, Wallbox Pulsar, Alfen Eve, Zaptec Go, ABB Terra, OpenEVSE, go-e Charger, Charge Amps Halo, Smappee EV Wall. **What is ERE?**
ERE stands for Emissiereductie-eenheid (Emission Reduction Unit), representing 1 kg of CO₂ savings. Managed by the NEa (Dutch Emissions Authority), effective from 1 January 2026.

**How much can I earn?**
€150–€450 per year with 3,000–5,000 kWh home charging. Guide price: €0.05–€0.09 per kWh net.

**What does Joulo cost?**
Signing up is free. 20% service fee on ERE proceeds.

**Do I need a MID meter?**

**Can I register with multiple providers?**
No, registration is exclusive per EAN code (electricity connection).

**Does it work with solar panels?**
For private individuals, the grid average always applies (50.5% renewable). Solar panels do not result in a higher ERE payout. The 100% renewable route only applies to commercial locations.
