Blue Current now connects directly to Joulo. Read your charging sessions automatically through the Blue Current API and earn on every kWh.
Blue Current now connects directly to Joulo. If you have a Blue Current charger, your charging sessions are read out fully automatically from now on through the Blue Current API. No manual entry, no separate OCPP configuration.
What this means
Every kWh you charge at home with a MID-certified meter earns an Emission Reduction Unit (ERE). Joulo registers it automatically with the NEa and pays out every quarter. With the Blue Current connection, that now happens by itself:
- Automatic read-out. Joulo syncs with the Blue Current API every 15 minutes. While you charge, you see your sessions stream in.
- Retroactively. Your charging sessions from 1 January 2026 count too, even if you only connect now. Joulo fetches that history automatically.
- Nothing to change on your charger. The connection runs entirely through the API.
Which Blue Current chargers qualify
For ERE registration you need a charger with a built-in MID-certified meter. At Blue Current, the NanoCharge, the Nano XL and the U:Move, among others, have a built-in MID meter. Whether your unit is the MID version depends on the variant. Joulo checks that automatically through the API. Not sure? Check your model at joulo.nl/en/check-charger.
If your charger has no built-in MID meter, Joulo arranges an upgrade to a MID charger. As an alternative, you request a Secondary Allocation Point (SAP) from your grid operator.
How to connect
- Sign in at my.bluecurrent.nl and generate an API key under Advanced. This only works on desktop, not in the mobile app.
- Paste that key into Joulo when you connect your charger.
- Done. Joulo reads your sessions, registers your EREs with the NEa and pays out every quarter.
Joulo charges a standard 20% service fee, and through referrals your fee drops to 10%. Your contract is cancellable annually.
Still reading out manually or via OCPP?
Switch to the API connection. It's more accurate and fully automatic. After that you no longer have to submit anything yourself • your sessions since 1 January 2026 are fetched automatically.
