Everything we build serves that one sentence. Joulo is a technology company: our own team builds the stack for EV drivers. Electric driving should be beautiful and easy. ERE's are the start: automatic registration, every sale published and a 20% service fee with no small print. Then comes the rest of charging: sharing, smart charging and charging points that we operate.

The people behind Joulo
Joulo was founded by Johan Trip and Ruben Stolk. Both are convinced that home charging can be fairer and smarter. We build the platform we wanted ourselves: transparent, fully automatic and open to everyone.
Johan Trip
Co-founder • payments & energy
Director of Subscriptions at Philips, where he built the subscription and payment platform from zero to 505,000 subscribers in twelve markets. Before that, EV and smart meter specialist at KPN, and he worked for aid organisation ZOA in Myanmar. Co-built ServiceHouse. At Joulo he brings payments, partners and the energy market together.
Ruben Stolk
Co-founder • platform & compliance
Founder of Capptions, compliance software used by large enterprises to manage inspections, incidents and regulations. At Joulo he builds the platform: the connections, the NEa registration and the audit trail behind every charging session.

Payment infrastructure for ERE's
Joulo works like a payment platform: you connect once, then everything runs by itself. We read your charging sessions, register them with the NEa and pay out every quarter.

Direct connections
We connect your charger directly through the manufacturer's API or via OCPP. You never submit meter readings again.

Every kWh recorded
We record every kWh, check it and convert it into ERE's. You see every step in your dashboard.
- 03
Sales and payouts
We sell the ERE's in tranches across the year via brokers and pay out every quarter. Every sale is in our open sales ledger.

Usage guidelines
- • Always use the official logo files • do not imitate or redraw them
- • Minimum height: 24px for digital, 8mm for print
- • Keep enough clear space around the logo (at least the height of the letter 'o')
- • Do not distort, rotate or recolour
- • Use the white logo on dark backgrounds, the black one on light
- • Write the name as 'Joulo' in running text and as 'joulo' in the wordmark • never 'JOULO'

Joulo in brief
Joulo B.V. is a registration service provider for ERE's (emission reduction units) from home charging in the Netherlands. EV drivers connect their charger once. Joulo reads the charging sessions automatically, converts them into ERE's, sells those via brokers and pays out every quarter at a 20% service fee. Joulo holds its own account in the NEa's Register Energie voor Vervoer (REV), connects to 15 charger brands via cloud API plus charging platforms and OCPP 1.6J, and publishes every ERE sale in an open sales ledger. Joulo was founded in 2026 by Johan Trip and Ruben Stolk and is based in Brummen.
