Joulo Share• beta, rolling out street by street

Your neighbours charge for free

Open up your charger for the people you invite: your neighbours, your son or daughter, a friend. They plug in and pay nothing • the ERE pays for the power. No tariff, no payment requests, no settling up.

Exclusively for Tibber and Frank customers

Tibber and Frank are our energy partners. Are you their customer? Then your neighbours charge for free today, and you come out ahead in the cheap hours. See the maths.

22,000+ chargers are already connected to Joulo.

Got a code from a neighbour, your parents or a friend? Log in with your Joulo account and the charging spot appears in your dashboard.

Your ERE credits already run: connecting and registering works today. We test Share with the first owners and then roll it out step by step.

A Tuesday in the street

Anouk is at the office at 10:00. Her charger sits idle on the driveway, like every workday.

Piet works from home, two doors down. He walks to Anouk's driveway and plugs in. He pays nothing.

At 16:00 Anouk drives home. She noticed nothing, except that her ERE credits went up.

On Saturday her daughter visits. She plugs in on the driveway she grew up on. Also free.

That is Joulo Share.

See how Share works

Sharing

Sixty cents at the public charge point. Zero at your neighbour's.

At a public charge point you easily pay €0.60 per kWh. Only a quarter of that is power. The rest is the line of parties in between.

At your neighbour's there is no line. Their power runs straight into your car, and every kWh earns them about €0.16 in ERE credits. That covers their power. So you pay nothing, and they lose nothing.

How it works

You open up, Joulo handles the rest

Open up your charger

One switch in your dashboard. You pick the hours and who may charge.

Your neighbours charge at your place

They plug in, just like you do. Joulo measures every charging session automatically.

The ERE stays yours

Without service fees. It lands in your quarterly payout and covers the power your neighbours charged.

The maths

Tibber or Frank customer? Then the sum works by itself

With the dynamic contract of Tibber or Frank, power costs almost nothing during the day. Exactly when you are at work and your charger sits idle. Every kWh your neighbour charges between 10:00 and 16:00 earns you about €0.16 in ERE credits, without service fees. More than the power costs.

Your guests charge for free, and you come out ahead.

That is why Share is exclusive to customers of our energy partners Tibber and Frank. Customer of another energy company? Flip the switch anyway and we will keep you posted.

Example per shared kWh

dynamic contract, daytime

  • Whoever charges at your place pays€ 0.00
  • Your power between 10:00 and 16:00 (all-in)− € 0.09
  • ERE revenue, without service fees+ € 0.16
  • You keep+ € 0.07

Indicative prices 2026 • the ERE revenue is based on our realised sale prices, the power price on an average sunny workday. Averaged over the whole day power costs €0.16; then you break even. Your neighbour saves €0.60 per kWh compared with a public charge point.

You stay in control

Your driveway, your rules

Your hours

Open by default on workdays from 10:00 to 16:00, when you are away and power is cheap. Change it any moment, close it temporarily too.

No money in between

Your neighbours charge for free, you keep the ERE. No tariff to set, no settling up, no payment requests.

Your guests

Only people you invite see your address and may charge: your neighbours, your son or daughter, a friend. All Joulo customers, by name. No anonymous charge card, no stranger on your driveway.

The free street

Will your street be the first?

One charger that is open during the day, and half the street charges for free. That is how we want to roll it out: not a little bit everywhere, but street by street, completely. Sign up and we will see which neighbourhood goes first.

The value stays in the street

Your neighbour charges for free, you keep the ERE. Nothing disappears into the chain, nothing needs settling.

Street by street

We start small and open up neighbourhood after neighbourhood. Pioneers go first and help decide when their street follows.

Your voice counts

The first owners help shape the hours, the invitations and the app. What you run into, we build in.

Log in and flip the switch. Then you are first in line when your neighbourhood opens.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, but…

No. You pay for the power your guest charges, and you keep the full ERE on those kWh: about €0.16. Joulo charges no service fees on shared kWh. With the dynamic contract of Tibber or Frank that is on average equal to what the power costs you, and in the cheap hours you come out ahead.

Tibber and Frank are our energy partners. With their dynamic contract, daytime power often costs less than the ERE earns, so sharing costs you nothing. Customer of another energy company? Turn on Share and we will keep you posted.

They cannot, just like that. Only guests you invite yourself can charge at your place, and only in the hours you set. You see per session who charged and how much. If something is off, you reject it.

You sort that out with your neighbour, just like when they borrow your ladder. Joulo is not a party in that agreement: we measure the kWh and register the ERE. What you may expect from each other is in the Share terms.

Yes, with the same switch, even mid-day. You can also remove a guest from your list. Nothing to cancel, no notice period.

Yes. The ERE follows the connection, not who charges. Every shared session runs through your meter, so the ERE stays yours. Joulo registers it for you with the NEa.

No. Your guest needs a Joulo account and an invitation from you • the account is free and takes a few minutes. So your son or daughter too. Your guest tells the app they are about to charge, plugs in, and we link the session to them.

If it is connected to Joulo and has a factory-fitted MID meter. In the Netherlands that is already over 22,000 chargers. In doubt? Run the charger check.
