MID meter: yes
Your MID-metered charging sessions count from 1 January 2026. We register them and pay out every quarter.
No MID meter
You see in euros what your charging sessions would have earned with a MID meter, and which two routes exist. Your sessions count from the moment the MID meter is there.
Not sure yet
If we can't determine the type straight away, we find out. Sometimes we ask you for a photo of the type plate.
A mobile charger never counts, not even with a MID meter inside. Registration belongs to a fixed spot at one address.
What a MID meter yields
Without a MID meter, your charging doesn't count.
Our customers charge 4,100 kWh at home per year on average. With a MID meter that yields €492 per year, at a 20% service fee. After connecting you see the amount for your own charger. Your sessions count from the moment the MID meter is there.

AME (Applied Micro Electronics, Eindhoven) ontwikkelt en bouwt elektronica, ook AC-laadstations. In het AME AC Charge Platform zit een MID-meter af fabriek, gecertificeerd door NMi. Joulo herkent een laadstation van AME en zet de MID-status dan zelf goed. Koppelen gaat via het laadplatform waar je laadstation aan hangt.

Does my charger have a MID meter?
Connect your charger to Joulo. We read the type from your charger itself and your dashboard shows whether it has a MID meter. To compare first, look up your brand and model in the library on this page.
What is a MID meter?
An energy meter calibrated under the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID). For ERE from home charging, only what such a meter in your charger measures counts.
My charger has no MID meter. Can I still connect?
Yes. Every fixed charger can connect. You see your charging sessions and what they would have earned with a MID meter. There are two routes: a charger with a factory-fitted MID meter, from € 999 installed after trade-in, or a separate metering point from your grid operator, one-off € 280.82 at Liander or € 629.09 at Enexis. Your sessions count from the moment the MID meter is there.
Do my old sessions count once I get a MID meter later?
No. Registration only covers kWh the MID meter itself measured. What you charged before never counts afterwards.
Does a MID meter in the meter cupboard count?
Never for home charging. Only a MID meter in your charger or a separate metering point from your grid operator counts.
Do I need to supply a photo or a MID certificate?
No. The certificate belongs to the meter type. We read the type from your charger and get the certificate from the manufacturer ourselves.
Does a mobile charger count?
No, not even with a MID meter inside. A registration belongs to one fixed spot at one address. A mobile charger travels with you, so we can't separate charging at home from charging elsewhere.
