Does the OpenEVSE WiFi have a MID meter for ERE registration?

No, the OpenEVSE WiFi does not have a MID-certified meter by default. For ERE registration, Joulo quotes a new charger with a MID meter, or you request a Secondary Allocation Point (SAP) with your grid operator. Your sessions count from the moment the MID meter is in place.

Does the OpenEVSE have a MID meter?

No, OpenEVSE has no models with a factory-fitted MID meter. There are two routes: a charger with a built-in MID meter, or a secondary allocation point with your grid operator. Your sessions count from the moment the MID meter is in place.

How do I connect my OpenEVSE with Joulo?

You add your OpenEVSE to your Joulo account for session tracking. Those sessions do not count towards ERE's: that needs a new charger with a MID meter, or a Secondary Allocation Point with your grid operator.

What can I earn with my OpenEVSE?

Our customer average is 4,100 kWh charged at home per year. Our customers receive 12.6 cents net per kWh on average, after service fees. That comes to about €517 per year in ERE's, €129 per quarter. At the standard 20% fee it is 12 cents per kWh.

What does it cost?

A 20% service fee on the revenue. No subscription and no connection fee. The contract is cancellable yearly and we pay out every quarter.

Do I need a green energy contract?

No, and your supplier does not matter. ERE units cover the renewable share of the Dutch grid mix. For 2026 that share is 50.5%.

Do charging sessions from before I signed up count?

Yes, as long as the MID meter measured them. Sessions from 1 January 2026 count, and 2026 sessions can be registered up to and including 25 February 2027. Sessions from before the MID meter never count.

When does the money reach my account?

Every quarter, on the account from your registration. Your dashboard shows per charging session where the amount comes from.
