ERE eligibility
Does the Smappee EV Wall have a MID meter for ERE registration?
It depends on your article number. The EV Base and the current EV Wall (EVWC-) and EV One (EVOC-) have a built-in MID meter and are directly eligible for ERE registration. The EV Wall Home (EVW-), EV Wall Lite (EVWL-) and EV One Home (EVO-) sold until 2025 do not: they meter to IEC 62053-21, which is not MID. Your article number is on the sticker on your charger. The Smappee Cloud connection is live: you request your personal API keys from Smappee once, paste them into Joulo, and it runs automatically from there. Connecting via OCPP 1.6J is also possible.

MID detection
Does the Smappee EV Wall have a MID meter?
This varies by model: some variants are MID-certified, others are not. Always check your exact model.
My Smappee is not MID • what now?
Two routes. You can upgrade to a charger with a built-in MID meter (request a quote and we will work out the numbers for you), or ask your grid operator for a secondary allocation point: €200 to €300 installation plus monthly costs. A separate submeter in the meter cabinet is not a valid route for home charging.
How do I connect my Smappee with Joulo?
Via the Smappee Cloud. You request personal API keys from Smappee once, paste them into Joulo together with your Smappee login, and we pull your sessions automatically every 15 minutes. Prefer OCPP? Set the OCPP URL to wss://ocpp.joulo.nl.
What can I earn with my Smappee EV Wall?
Our customer average is 4,100 kWh charged at home per year. That earns you about €530 per year in ERE's, roughly €130 per quarter. This is the mid scenario of €0.13 net per kWh, after the 20% service fee. Referrals lower your fee to 10%.
What does it cost?
A 20% service fee on the revenue. No subscription and no connection fee. The contract is cancellable yearly and we pay out every quarter.
Do I need a green energy contract?
No, and your supplier does not matter. ERE units cover the renewable share of the Dutch grid mix. For 2026 that share is 50.5%.
Do charging sessions from before I signed up count?
Yes, as long as the MID meter measured them. Sessions from 1 January 2026 count, and 2026 sessions can be registered up to and including 25 February 2027. Sessions from before the MID meter never count.
When does the money reach my account?
Every quarter, on the account from your registration. Your dashboard shows per charging session where the amount comes from.
