ChargeAmps is live on Joulo: Halo, Aura and Dawn now connect automatically through the ChargeAmps API
The direct connection between ChargeAmps and Joulo is live. Your charging sessions from the Halo, Aura and Dawn arrive automatically through the ChargeAmps API and are registered with the NEa as Emission Reduction Units.

From today, the direct connection with ChargeAmps is live on Joulo. If you have a ChargeAmps home charger, your charging sessions now arrive automatically through the ChargeAmps API and we register them with the NEa as Emission Reduction Units (ERE). No exports, no meter readings, no app that has to stay open.
What it is
ChargeAmps is a Swedish manufacturer of home chargers. The connection with Joulo works for the Halo, Aura and Dawn • you link your ChargeAmps account once and after that your sessions flow through by themselves.
For ERE registration there is one condition: a built-in, MID-certified meter. ChargeAmps models with such a meter qualify directly. If your charger doesn't have one, there are two clean routes • more on that below.
How the connection works
- Link your ChargeAmps account once. You sign in with your ChargeAmps credentials; Joulo only requests read access to your charging sessions.
- Joulo finds your chargers. If you have several, you choose which one to connect. The charger's serial number forms the MID declaration to the NEa.
- Sessions arrive every 15 minutes. A session you start now usually shows up in your Joulo dashboard within the hour.
After the first connection you don't have to do anything else. Payout every quarter to your IBAN.
What it earns
At an average use of 200 kWh per month that works out to roughly €65 per quarter net, after Joulo's service fee of 20% standard • down to 10% through referrals. If you drive more, it scales linearly. In our calculator you can work it out on your own usage.
No built-in MID meter?
For home charging, only the metered supply point itself counts. Two routes remain:
- A quote for an upgrade to a charger with a built-in MID meter.
- A Secondary Allocation Point (SAP) from your grid operator (€200–€300 installation, plus monthly costs).
The legal explanation is in our blog on the Staatscourant regulation.
Under the hood
The ChargeAmps eAPI delivers, per charger, the charging sessions with the start and end reading of the built-in meter. Joulo signs in through the API, polls every 15 minutes and normalises the result into the Joulo session structure: kWh, EAN, time window, MID serial number. That plugs into the existing pipeline in which every qualifying session is registered as an ERE credit with the NEa.
For anyone still entering manually
Do you have a ChargeAmps charger that's currently in Joulo as manual entry? Then we only switch the source to the cloud connection • your history is preserved, you don't have to sign up again. The full steps are in the ChargeAmps docs.
