The Joulo app is live · over 1,500 users track their ERE payout on mobile

The Joulo app is in both the App Store and the Play Store. A month after the first public release, over 1,500 people already use it to track their charging sessions, ERE credits and quarterly payouts on their phone.

What the app does

The Joulo app is a fast, lightweight mobile shell over the same Supabase platform that also runs joulo.nl and our admin tools. The same data, the same authentication, the same checks.

Three things the app is there for:

• Real-time overview of your charging sessions, kWh, ERE credits and estimated payout per quarter.
• Status of your charger • online, offline, or mid-sync.
• Quarterly payouts • what's been transferred, what's still outstanding.

What the app does not do is just as important. You don't have to keep it open to register charging sessions • the backend already does that for you. You don't have to type meter readings into it. It isn't a second system you have to maintain.

The dashboard

The dashboard is the first tab you see when you open the app. At the top are the totals of all your connected chargers combined: number of kWh this quarter, how many ERE credits that earns and your estimated payout. Below that, a graph of your charging behaviour over the past weeks.

Your chargers

Under the Chargers tab, for each connected charger: the brand, the serial number, the last sync and the status. One tap and you see the charging sessions of that specific charger. If you've connected several chargers • home and office, for example • they're listed separately here, with their own totals.

You can connect a new charger from the app too. For that we open a WebView to the existing /connect-charger flow on the website, with your session already signed in. One source of truth for connecting, no second implementation that drifts out of step. If your brand works on the web, it works in the app too.

How the app is built

The app is made in Expo (React Native), so we roll it out on iOS and Android at the same time from one codebase.

Signing in via Google briefly opens joulo.nl in an in-app browser and then sends you back to the app. That keeps the OAuth flow in one place, and means we don't have to maintain native Google SDKs or separate signing keys per platform. We made the same choice for connecting chargers: the web is the source, the app is the view.

Under the hood, the app shares the exact same database, RLS policies and Edge Functions with joulo.nl. A fix that goes live on the website goes live in the app at the same time. A new integration • such as the Enphase connection from earlier this week • is immediately available on both platforms.

Figures from the first month

• Over 1,500 active users since the first public release on 13 April 2026.
• 5.0 stars in the App Store, across 7 ratings
• Version 1.0.14 is live, with around two releases per week since launch.
• For those who care: the app is 52 MB, runs from iOS 15.1, on iPhone, iPad, Mac with Apple Silicon and Apple Vision.
