Enphase is live on Joulo: IQ EV Charger 2 now connects automatically through the Enlighten Cloud

From today, the direct connection with the Enphase IQ EV Charger 2 is live on Joulo. For everyone with an Enphase system at home, that means one thing: your charging sessions arrive automatically through the Enphase Enlighten Cloud, and are registered with the NEa as Emission Reduction Units.

What it is

The Enphase IQ EV Charger 2 is Enphase's newest home charger • the company best known in the Netherlands for solar panels and home batteries. The device has a MID-certified meter built in • exactly what the Dutch Emissions Authority requires to register a charging session as an ERE credit. No separate meter needed, no entering meter readings.

The connection with Joulo runs through the Enphase Enlighten Cloud • the same platform on which your solar production and any battery data come in. We only request read access for your charging sessions; we don't touch solar or battery data.

69 Enphase chargers are already running

At the time of publication, there are 69 Enphase IQ EV Chargers active on the Joulo platform. That counter keeps rising: in the last 24 hours, around 180 charge points per day are newly connecting to Joulo, across all brands combined.

The 69 Enphase chargers are part of the wider platform figures: 7,600+ connected charge points, 260,000+ charging sessions registered and around 2 million ERE credits per year in registration with the NEa. The live version of these figures is at joulo.nl/en/status.

How the connection works

The full steps are in the Enphase docs. In short:

1. Sign in once with your Enphase Enlighten account. OAuth flow, read access only, no password transfer.
2. Joulo finds your IQ EV Charger 2. If you have several, you choose which to connect. The charger's serial number forms the MID declaration to the NEa.
3. Sessions arrive every 30 minutes. A session you start now usually shows up in your Joulo dashboard within the hour.

After the first connection you don't have to do anything else. No app that has to stay open, no exports, no quarterly reports. Payout every quarter to your IBAN.

What it earns

At an average use of 200 kWh per month that works out to about €61 per quarter net, after Joulo's service fee of 20% standard • down to 10% through referrals. For those who drive more, it scales linearly. In our calculator you can work it out on your own usage.

What we did under the hood

The Enphase Cloud API delivers, per charger, the twenty most recent sessions, with the start and end reading of the built-in meter. Joulo polls every 30 minutes and normalises the result into the Joulo session structure: kWh, EAN, time window, MID serial number. That plugs into the existing pipeline in which every qualifying session is registered as an ERE credit with the NEa.

We also throttled the sync cron this week, so we stay neatly within the rate limits of the Enphase API as the number of Enphase connections grows further. Not visible in the dashboard • but the kind of work that sits under the hood.
