Frequently asked questions about Tesla and ERE's
Does Joulo work with all Tesla models?
Yes, Joulo works with all Tesla models that charge at home: Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X. It's about your home charger, not the car itself.
Do I need a specific charger?
No, you can use any home charger with a MID meter on board. Joulo connects directly via cloud API with 15 charger brands (Tesla, Easee, Wallbox, Zaptec, Smappee, V2C, Enphase, Victron, Ohme, SolarEdge and more) and universally via OCPP 1.6J with virtually every other brand. How much do I charge at home on average with my Tesla?
Most Tesla drivers charge an average of roughly 250 kWh per month at home. That amounts to about €95 in ERE compensation per quarter.
What are ERE's exactly?
ERE stands for Emission Reduction Units. For every kWh you charge at home, you receive ERE's that Joulo sells through brokers. Your energy contract does not matter: home charging counts at the national grid average (50.5% renewable in 2026). The proceeds go to you.
What does it cost?
Signing up is free. Joulo charges 20% standard service fee incl. VAT, and referrals can lower your fee down to 10%.
