ERE for business: registering commercial charging

Business registration is open to every company: a fee per connection, entities per legal unit and the 100% route for own generation.

By Johan Trip and Ruben Stolk · updated

Since July 2026, business registration at Joulo is open to every company. If your fleet charges on your own premises, or you have chargers at your office, every charged kWh delivers a CO₂ saving that is worth money as an ERE (emission reduction unit).

What is different from private registration?

The business service fee follows your volume per connection per year, not your total: 15% (excl. VAT) up to 25,000 kWh, 14% up to 50,000 kWh, then 8% down to 4% for the largest sites. Five sites of 12,000 kWh each therefore all stay in the first band. No loyalty or referral discounts stack on top. The verification by an independent verifier is charged on separately: € 180 excl. VAT per connection per year on the standard route. The contract runs per calendar year and is cancellable yearly. Payouts are quarterly, just like private customers.

What do you need?

You register your company with your chamber of commerce extract and your energy contract; we verify the MID certification of your chargers. Chargers connect through a cloud integration or OCPP • just like home chargers. Per connection (EAN) only one party can register credits per calendar year, so if a mandate is already running elsewhere, you declare that during registration and your mandate starts on 1 January.

Add each entity with its own chamber of commerce number and IBAN. The quarterly payout then follows the entity IBAN, so proceeds land with the right company administratively.

The 100% route for own generation

By default the scheme uses the national grid average of 50.5% renewable (2026). If your fleet charges simultaneously with your own solar or wind generation, that electricity can count as 100% renewable • nearly doubling your ERE credits for those kWh. The NEa sets four conditions: generation at the same delivery location, a MID-certified meter on the generation installation, a guarantee of origin (non-grid delivery) issued by VertiCer and transferred to the NEa before registration (your installation must be registered with VertiCer), and no SDE subsidy on the same electricity. We set up the evidence together with you.
