How much can you really earn charging at home? An honest answer with a worked example you can check yourself: around €0.13 net per kWh.


"How much can I earn by charging at home?" is the question we get most. Here is an honest answer, with a worked example you can check yourself.
How the amount is built up
Three steps:
- Your kilowatt-hours charged at home are converted into ERE's, based on the grid-average renewable share (50.5% in 2026) and the CO2 reduction factor from RED III.
- Those ERE's have a market value, which moves with supply and demand.
- Your registration provider's service fee comes off that. What remains is your net revenue.
In the end that averages out to an indicative price of around €0.13 per kWh net • after service fees, market-dependent.
Worked example per year
Assuming that indicative price (mid scenario), and charging at home on your own connection:

The amounts are indicative and move with the market. If you charge partly in public or at work, only your home-charged share counts.
What makes it higher or lower
- The market price of an ERE. It fluctuates; that is why we work with an indicative price and a range, not a guarantee.
- How much you charge at home. More home charging means more ERE's.
- Your service fee. With Joulo 20% as standard, and down to 10% through referrals • a lower fee means higher net revenue.
- Private or business. Households use the grid average; business locations can come out higher under conditions.
Honest about "green"
Even with solar panels, the NEa uses the grid-average renewable share for a household, not 100%. That is not your provider's choice • it follows from the regulation. So we do not promise a 100% payout that is not there.
