Expensing home charging sessions to your employer
Joulo delivers a monthly or quarterly PDF statement with your sessions and kWh price • ready for employer reimbursement or accounting.
Driving for work and charging at home? Then you need a monthly or quarterly statement for your employer or accountant. Joulo generates it automatically in your dashboard.
Every connected charger has a download button next to it. Pick the period, your own kWh price and the format: PDF for HR, CSV for Excel or your accounting package. Your sessions are listed chronologically with start and end time, delivered kWh and — if you set a price — the total cost per session and the grand total.
Who is this for?
- Business drivers with a private home charger expensing monthly to their employer - Lease drivers with a kWh allowance through lease or employer arrangement - Freelancers and sole traders booking home-charging kWh as business energy costs
Which kWh price should you enter?
The fairest is your actual all-in electricity rate including VAT, energy tax and grid fees • that's what you actually pay per kWh. On a dynamic tariff or with solar panels making it complex? Use the average from your most recent annual statement. Some employers apply a fixed rate (€ 0.30 to € 0.49 per kWh) • check your employment terms or lease policy.
Joulo stores the price per charger so you don't need to re-enter it. Leave the field empty to export kWh only, without amounts.
What the PDF looks like
The attachment is titled "Vergoeding thuislaadsessies" (home-charging reimbursement) and includes your name and address as the bill-to recipient, your charger name, the EAN of your connection, a clean table with all sessions in the period, and totals at the bottom • ready for employer sign-off or filing in your records.
The CSV contains the same fields in raw format: charger ID, EAN, location, tag, start and end time, delivered kWh, price and total cost • suitable for Excel processing or automated ingest in an accounting package.
Multiple drivers on one charger?
If your charger uses RFID cards (e.g. one for you and one for your partner), the Tag column is included. That way you can split sessions between drivers and avoid mixing a partner's personal sessions into your employer expense claim.
